In my kitchen...

is where I will be today. My pantry is stocked and today I'll be using all my ingredients to make bread, bagels and buns...then freeze them so that I have them. The one thing I learned from this cold was...to have more things on hand in the freezer for a day that I am not feeling particularly well. I can't really do once a month cooking because I only have my side by side fridge/freezer...so I have to stock up in pantry so that I have good foods on hand.

Yesterday...oh, what a beautiful day it was. It actually topped 70 degrees for a bit. It just felt good to be alive! My husband was here at home working...but Brittany and I were able to do all our running around in it and it was so lovely. Being a more "mature" wife and mom now...I about fell over when I went back to my favorite market...even Brittany was in awe of all that they had bagged up and ready to sell. I was able to get tons of mixes and spices and my usual things for a fraction of the cost and it is all lined up on my shelf ready to go.

We bought dried KIWI...it is so pretty and it tastes so good. I also bought dried apricots (Britt's fav) and dried pears...one of mine, and of course a bag of those little Lego candies...and then a bag of fireballs for my husband.

Off to Sam's club to stock up after that and then to Walmart for the little things...all in all we were gone all day...but I am hoping...that I will have enough food stores to only go to the grocery store for milk and produce for the rest of the month.

I have my work cut out for me today...but I am happy to do it!

Happy Friday!

  1. Hey, way to go on the food thing. It is my husband's night to cook.....last night he had a board meeting at church... and we had to movie his Thursday meal to Friday this week. So, I don't have to plan too much and I might just put together some cinnamon rolls for the weekend.

  6. Wow, that is really impressive! I am so happy that you feel better and were able to enjoy the nice weather. I am sure you have the same dreary rain that we are having today though. I don't mind as a veg day sounds nice to me. Good for you in stocking up and filling those cupboards and freezer with good food!!! It feels so good to accomplish something so worthwhile and Proverbs 31ish! : )
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
