I have considered just deleting my blog...only for the fact that I just don't get on here much anymore. It makes me feel as if I am neglecting something. Just before I manage to actually push the delete key however, I can't bring myself to it because on here are many precious memories. So, although my posts may be lacking in excitement and are few and far between I will post from time to time...just to keep it going. Who knows maybe I will find my blogging mojo someday soon.
Things have been good. I am very tired of looking out my window and just seeing white...and gray with some black. Every now and then I see the large hawk that lives in the trees in the park next door fly by. That always brings such excitement to my day. A couple of weeks ago I was sitting looking out the front door and he landed on our porch rail right in the center of my door. I was so stunned that I couldn't speak but only make a noise that attracted Brittany's attention. I pointed and whispered for her to come quickly. I still couldn't believe my eyes. Before we could grab a camera he was off but he was a beauty!
I have been crocheting and trying to keep busy. I have been researching vegetable gardening in a shady yard and container vegetable gardening. Getting ready to experiment with peas, beans and lettuce this year. I am so hoping that it works. I mastered my cucumbers last summer...so I'll be planting those again. Since my large tomato did nothing...I think I'll try Roma and grape tomatoes on my front porch this year.
I am currently working on a table runner for my table. I am using #10 crochet cotton and a #7 hook. I have one square completed and am working on the second which will attach to the first. My goal is to finish a block a week and attach it as I go. If I do this then I should finish this project in about 3 months. Just in time for summer...which is good because the center of each square is a daisy. Brittany is crocheting circles around me. She has made many hats and scarves...is currently working on a purse and an ear band. She is always so much faster at things than I am...but then again...I seem to choose patterns with a lot of detail. I think perhaps I am a very detail oriented person.
We joined the Y...actually...it's brand new and within about a 7 minute drive from home. The building is gorgeous and I can finally swim again. My old Y closed a few years back and since I have been Pool-less. We went for the third time this morning. When we got in the car it was a whopping 8 degrees. We figure that if we can be dedicated when it is this bone chillingly cold...we have it made in a month or so. I am currently walkin on the treadmill. Brittany is running on the elliptical. Maybe someday I'll be in as good as shape as she is and join her. For now, I am just happy to be moving. I'll begin a half an hour of swimming here soon too...which will give me an hour a day workout. I did it the first day and couldn't move for the rest of the day when I got home...so I decided to take it slow...master the treadmill...add in the swimming a couple of days a week and go from there. I am doing it for the anti-aging factor...toning and if I manage to lose a few pounds then that will be great too.
We had sunshine today for the first time in quite a while...I guess it is the calm before the storm that is going to hit most everyone in the next few hours.
Blessings from frigid Northeast Ohio!

I hope you don't hit the delete button. :(
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog.
I know what you mean. It's been pretty frigid here today, tho', believe it or not, it got to 73 degrees last Fri. Total shock for us Coloradoans! But, alas, we're back to the cold and will be around 14 below tonight (as my pocketbook cringes!)
We belonged to the Y growing up for many years. My mom learned to swim there as an adult, and went on to get all the necessary lifesaving certs, etc and began teaching swimming lessons. She taught there for 10 years. It's so nice to have an indoor place to go and keep up on the exercise.
Have a blessed week in spite of the freeeezing cold!
Brenda
Don't you do it! Hit delete, that is!! You know I would be sad and emailing you all the time!
ReplyDeleteI check this blog everyday to see what's new with you, so don't ever think people aren't interested. Sometimes we think our life is not exciting enough to write about, but we learn from one another.
I really don't know what to expect with today's weather. They are saying 25 mile an hour wind, so I'm thinking I might need to go outside and pick up stuff in the yard that could blow around.
Maybe some snow around Friday.
Maybe I'll have a picture to share of some white stuff covering the ground. Hope so!
Even if you only write every few weeks, I want to hear about it!
Have a great week:)
Debbie
NO DELETING!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read your post for days, but have had a hard time getting back to it. So I decided today is the day. We are killing a few minutes before we had to go to the eye doctor and library and piano lessons. That will take a while. No school today....kinda. The weather here is cold as well. I have been knitting of course. Trying my hand at making pizza dough. Planning our garden in my head. We are planning on a bigger one this year. I didn't put up any green beans last year and soooo miss them. Margaret started her herb garden last year and we will add to it. You must share you techinque on mastering the cucumber. I am very weak in that area. I want to plant a goose berry bush and a black berry bush as well.
ReplyDeleteI am saving my money to purchase an elliptical machine!!! I haven't been able to walk much at all this winter and I need to get back to it. Plus Margaret and Chris can benefit from it too.
It was nice chatting......will stop by again soon.
